Thank you for choosing Switchpod as your podcast hosting service!  At Switchpod, we work hard each and every day to make your podcasting experience the most it can be.  To make your experience even better, we are in the process of upgrading our network.

As a result, you will be seeing some changes to the Switchpod service over the next several weeks.

Today,  we implemented a new ftp system for uploading files to Switchpod.com via an ftp client, making uploading easier and faster than ever before!

This removes the need to have multiple logins to our service.

As of today, you will only need your Switchpod.com website username and password to access any of our systems, including FTP, giving you quick and uncomplicated access to all facets of your account.

For example, instead of using the typical username (usernamehere! @switchpod.com, for example) as your ftp username, you should now use your Switchpod username, minus the “@ switchpod.com”.

You should also be able to use your Switchpod password as ftp password.

To activate this new system on your account,  you should first login to your Switchpod.com control panel before accessing your ftp account.

Afterwards, you should have no problems accessing your ftp account.

We believe this new system will make it easier for you to upload your files, provide you with more efficient control over your podcast, and give you an overall superior user experience.

For those of you experiencing slow speeds with downloads, etc, we are currently working on fixing the issue. Issue was caused by lack of connectivity with one of our networks. We will post updates in the blog. Please check back for updates. Issue should be resolved by tonight. Thanks for patience.

Due to the slow loadime time today, we are conducting a server maintenance to make sure that the site continues to load well. We will be moving the main stats engine to another server - then premium servers will be able to access stats without problems. Sorry for the wait. Thanks

To insure fairness, the ratings were reset for all podcasts. We realized that most podcasts never had a chance to boost their ratings due to older podcasts with a more votes. Therefore, we decided to reset ratings for all podcasts to make sure that new and old podcasts are able to compete fairly. We plan on reseting ratings once every three months.

Reseting ratings is a common practice. Many podcast directories reset ratings every month.

To improve server performance and downloading speeds, we have implemented a new server system at Switchpod.com. This system is effective as of now. Now, your files will be distributed throughout an efficient cache system. This will decrease downloading times, and improve downloading performance. All files are intact, but downloads will be easier and more efficient than before.

We received emails from members who couldn’t connect to ftp.  We looked into this. To rectify this connection problem, please use ftp host, switchpod.com and not ftp.switchpod.com. This will allow you to connect to ftp.

We realized that our old password protection system was not Itunes compatible. Don’t worry, we fixed it! Therefore, we have implemented a new password protection system, that will allow you to password protect your feeds easily.

Please use the url http://www.switchpod.com/cons.php (found in the update information page) to enter a password that will protect your feed.

Without this password, one will not be able to access your feed on Itunes or through an Internet browser.

And yes! This new password protection is Itunes compatible.
